For an Oxford University man to be considered for the award of a discretionary Full Blue for Dancesport he must achieve the following:
- He must compete for the OUDC Varsity A-Team against Cambridge.
- He must make the quarter finals of the Team Match competition at the IVDA Nationals competition (“IVDC”).
- He must finish in the top 3 in his team dance in the IVDC team match competition.

It is important to note that these are minimum requirements for a man/woman to be considered for a Full Blue. Other factors will be taken into account including:
- Opens results, including “Advanced-Four-Dance” competetitions, as this shows individuals abilities across the whole range of dances and not just the one team dance.
- Comparison between individuals.
Our coaches play a major role in the selection and training of the Team. For this reason the Head Coach is consulted by the Captain prior to any Full Blue awards being made.
