Varsity Match

The varsity match between Oxford and Cambridge has been held annually since 1974. Since 1996 the Blues (A team) match has been accompanied by a B team match. The two clubs take turns to act as host for the event.

The varsity Blues team consists of the 9 couples who are the most accomplished dancers overall in ballroom and latin. Each Oxford couple competes against all of the couples from Cambridge in waltz, quickstep, cha and jive.

The varsity match is a unique dancesport competition since it is a straight, most-points wins, no-knockout battle for victory. Every couple dances every dance, their placings are converted into points and the team with the most points wins.
